Creating Written and Visual Content for Mobile-Optimized Websites

Mobile-optimized websites have long been recognized as important because they allow people to look up your product or service when they’re on the go. People can look at your mobile-optimized website anywhere they can carry their mobile phones. And nowadays, that means literally everywhere. People can look at your website while they’re waiting for the bus, while they’re having a coffee, while they’re taking a break from work etc. There are times when people actually prefer to look at certain websites on their phones rather than their computers because it gives them a certain degree of privacy.

You need to recognize that having a mobile-optimized website is not just about having the text wrap around in a readable way, though this is an important part of it. It’s also about writing the text in a certain way and using images that will be clear even on a mobile screen.

Written Content

In terms of text, you basically have to try and keep it brief and clear if you want it to be read on mobile. A mobile phone has the advantage of being, well, mobile! At the same time, it has the disadvantage of having a small screen, although many companies have recognized this as a disadvantage and phone screens seem to be increasing in size. It seems that people don’t mind the inconvenience of having to carry a larger phone if they have the convenience of being able to see more things on it.

Still, you need to consider that as of now, phone screens are still on the smaller side. So it’s important to keep your text brief and readable. Sure, people will scroll down to read more if they find it interesting but their attention span is still going to be less than it would be on a larger screen.

Visual Content

When it comes to images, you need to use images that are not too complex so that people can make them out clearly on a small screen. Close ups are generally a good idea, but you can also use long shots as long as the content of the image is clear. Using photos with brighter colors is also a good idea because dark photos may not be as clear.
