What is a Marketing Sales Funnel?

  • by

The importance of sales to a business cannot be overemphasized. At the end of the day, profits will serve as the basis when evaluating company performance. The company needs customers in order to achieve this. The marketing sales funnel is a system that you can use to convert the leads or potential customers into loyal customers. A great way to find these customers in these times is through the internet.

It is very important for any business, be it big or small, to have internet presence nowadays. If a particular business does not exist on the web, it might as well be considered as non-existent at all.  The advent of mobile data technology has accelerated people’s connectivity. This means more and more people are connected to the internet. For the enterprising mind, this means a land of opportunity. The internet is an ocean of potential customers and having an effective marketing sales funnel system is very beneficial.

The goal for creating a marketing sales funnel is to avoid the loss of potential customers. Just like a real funnel, this will serve as a tool that will draw in potential customers and keep them so you can convert them into paying customers.

Keep in mind that when working on a marketing sales funnel, it needs to be able to reach a wide audience or capture the attention of numerous leads. It is also crucial to focus on getting a high conversion rate from being a lead to a customer. Getting customer should not be the only goal. You also have to gather returning customers or fans. The fans will be the ones to spread the word among their families and friends while returning customers are obviously going to result in increased sales.

In order to reach out to more leads, the first step is to make them aware of the product. There are several ways to do this such as social media marketing, email marketing, blogging and many other ways. This presence will attract potential customers. Most of the ways to reach out to leads stated above will need content. A good and relevant content will target people who have the potential of becoming customers.

It will also not hurt to research on the most effective ways to reach customers for a specific product. This will save time, effort and resources. For example, in email marketing, if an email is sent for a discount coupon for dog food to a dog owner, he or she may possibly be curious or enthusiastic about it. This is in contrast to sending the coupon to a person who does not have a pet dog.

The second step is the nurturing phase. This stage is when you will need to take care of the leads in order to turn them into customers. Having a regular communication with them or providing value adding “freebies” may help. These people need to feel that they are important. Answering their queries or providing special reports that are helpful to them are some of the ways to nurture these leads.

Once they are satisfied, they will be converted to customers. However, it does not end there because the main goal of any business is to make sure that they will have returning customers. These returning customers will make up the loyal fan base of the business. It is important to satisfy any of their post sales queries and needs. The customers should have an access to the company or business.

Setting up portals through which the customer can interact or voice his/her opinion or concern will be very helpful. This will be the backbone of the business and this will be a major factor in driving growth.

The marketing sales funnel is a holistic system within the business. It helps ensure that the business will thrive through the whole “life cycle” of the customer. An efficient marketing sales funnel in place will ensure the growth and survival of the business.
